- Effective January 1, 2011 the following policy has been approved by both the Cincinnati Retirement System and Risk Management.
- Active employees of the City of Cincinnati are provided the opportunity to participate in healthcare coverage offered by the City. As long as they are employed by the City and eligible to purchase healthcare coverage as an active employee, they may not be enrolled as a spouse or dependent of a retiree of the Cincinnati Retirement System for healthcare coverage purposes.
- Employees who are members of the Cincinnati Retirement System who were hired before January 8, 1997 are eligible for healthcare coverage upon retirement from active employment. Retirement healthcare benefits are always subject to change and are not a vested benefit.
