Harrison Avenue

The Department of Transportation and Engineering (DOTE) has been working on plans to improve safety along Harrison Avenue between Queen City Avenue and the corporation line (near Boudinot Avenue). Specific improvement areas are listed below. The entire 4-mile stretch of the project will be repaved, all signs will be replaced, and six signals will be upgraded. Several public meetings have been held and City representatives have attended several community meetings to request feedback on these improvements.

DOTE also solicited feedback from residents and street users regarding potential changes in the lane striping of the street. Based on the feedback received from the community, the lane striping present today will not change. The lane striping will consist of:

  • Four lanes (two lanes in each direction),

  • Parking allowed in the curb lane for most of the day (parking will be restricted eastbound during the morning rush hours and westbound during the evening rush hours).

  • Construction will begin in June of 2012, and is expected to be complete by November of 2013.
