  • Crews will continue to monitor and treat City roads this weekend as weather conditions warrant.

Quick Facts:

  • In a typical year the city will use 30,000 to 50,000 tons of salt in the fight to keep roads safe for travel.
  • Under ideal weather conditions salt brine is our preferred method of treatment because it is both better for the environment and conserves valuable resources.
  • One lane mile treated with brine requires about 80 pounds of salt vs. 400 pounds when applied in a granular form.
  • The City has approximately 11,000 tons of salt on hand with additional deliveries expected.
