GCWW Releases 2009 Water Quality Report
Water Met or Exceeded All State and Federal Health Standards

Cincinnati, OH – Greater Cincinnati Water Works’ (GCWW) 2009 Water Quality Report shows its water met or exceeded every health standard developed by both the USEPA and Ohio EPA.

The report is now being mailed to water works customers.  GCWW serves 1.1 million people in Hamilton, Butler, Warren and Clermont Counties in Ohio and Boone County, Kentucky.

“Our mission is to provide the highest quality drinking water possible to our customers,” says David Rager, GCWW Director. “We stay abreast of the latest water quality research and techniques and continually look for ways to improve our methods to ensure we are delivering the best product we can.”

GCWW typically treats about 135 million gallons of water a day and conducts about 600 tests a day throughout the water treatment process.

The utility draws its source water from the Ohio River and the Great Miami Aquifer near Fairfield.

GCWW’s Richard Miller Treatment Plant is one of only a few water treatment plants in the nation that uses Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) with on-site reactivation as part of its   treatment process. GAC is cited by the USEPA as one of the best treatment technologies to remove impurities during drinking water treatment.

“A safe reliable water supply is critical to a community,” says Rager. “Water is an essential element of our every-day lives. It provides for the health and welfare of citizens, aids in fire suppression and supports our businesses, schools and hospitals.”

GCWW’s 2009 Water Quality Report was prepared to meet the EPA's National Primary Drinking Water Regulation for Consumer Confidence Reports (CCR).
