Cincinnati Water Works Now Serving South Lebanon

GCWW Lowers Rates for South Lebanon Residents, Improves Water Quality

Cincinnati, OH –Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) is now providing water service to the Village of South Lebanon.

The new wholesale water agreement is estimated to save the average South Lebanon household about $2.00 per month.

“This is a great day for the residents of South Lebanon,” said Village Mayor Jim Smith. “We are now receiving higher quality soft water at a reduced cost.”

“Our goal is to serve the needs of our regional community,” said Biju George, Greater Cincinnati Water Works’ Interim Director. “South Lebanon is a growing community that will now have a plentiful supply of high quality water for years to come.”

South Lebanon entered into a 40-year wholesale water agreement with GCWW in 2009. Water service is being provided 12 months ahead of schedule. The community will continue to manage all water services including billing and water infrastructure maintenance.

GCWW has a long history of being a leader in the water utility industry. Just this past June, the utility received the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) Platinum Award for Utility Excellence.

GCWW’s Richard Miller Treatment Plant is one of only a few water treatment plants in the nation that uses Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) with on-site reactivation as part of its   treatment process. With the addition of an ultraviolet disinfection treatment facility in 2013, GCWW will be the largest water utility in the nation to use UV following sand filtration and GAC.

Currently, GCWW provides high quality water to 1.1 million people in parts of Hamilton, Butler, Warren and Clermont Counties in Ohio and Boone County, Kentucky.  On average, the utility GCWW pumps about 130 million gallons of water a day through 3,100 miles of water pipes.
